How to Give with Google Pay and Apple Pay

How to Give with Google Pay and Apple Pay

OnlineGiving.org now supports Google Pay and Apple Pay as part of over 15+ methods of giving provided by our platform.

Is your church prepared for new givers that no longer carry wallets?

In the age of convenient intelligent devices, including phones, tablets, and watches, it's becoming less common for the younger generation to carry a physical wallet with a credit/debit card.

Churches must be ready for new givers who no longer carry physical wallets. An interesting and increasingly common scenario exists in which a generation of new givers are looking to complete a spur-of-the-moment act of generosity and do not carry a wallet to make that possible.

So how can The Local Church encourage and accommodate this new generation of new givers who no longer carry wallets and may not be spiritually disciplined enough yet to remember to complete a gift when they leave the church?

The answer to this question is in our pockets or around our wrists. iPhones and Android phones with virtual wallets, oh my! That's right, virtual wallets.

Since launching in 2014, OnlineGiving.org has strived to be innovative in ways to serve both the donor and The Church. We opened our doors in 2014 as the first fully tokenized giving solution that included Amazon-style saved payment methods. e.g., a virtual wallet. OnlineGiving.org makes giving a snap by removing the need for a donor to enter payment information more than once.

We're pleased to announce, OnlineGiving.org, we have taken our virtual wallet a step further and now support Google Pay and Apple Pay. OnlineGiving.org churches can now allow donors to complete gifts using Google Pay or Apple Pay easily.

Just encase you haven't had a chance to use Google Pay or Apple Pay yet. Let's take a moment and talk about Apple Pay and Google Pay -

What is a virtual wallet?

A virtual wallet is a digital app or website that allows users to store and manage personal payment information in a secure online account, such as debit and credit card information.

Virtual wallets can provide a convenient and secure way for users to make payments and manage their payment information.

What is Google Pay?

Google Pay is a digital wallet developed by Google to make payments. It allows users to make payments with stored debit and credit card information in a virtual wallet. Google Pay can be used to make purchases on websites, apps, and physical stores accepting contactless payments.

Users can set up Google Pay by adding their debit or credit card to the Google Pay mobile app. Then when completing a website checkout, users can tap the "Google Pay" button to access the saved card information for purchases or donations.

Is Google Pay Safe?

Google Pay is a safe and secure way to make payments. Google uses advanced security measures to protect users' payment information and prevent unauthorized transactions.

When users add their payment information to Google Pay, it is encrypted and stored on secure servers. Additionally, Google Pay offers fraud protection and monitoring to detect and prevent unauthorized transactions. Users can also set up security measures such as a screen lock or fingerprint authentication to protect their Google Pay account.

Google Pay provides a high level of protection for its users' payment information and transactions.

What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is a digital wallet and mobile payment service developed by Apple Inc. It allows users to make payments using their iPhone, iPad, Macbook, or Apple Watch. Apple Pay can be used to make purchases on websites, in apps, and in physical stores that accept contactless payments.

To use Apple Pay, users must have an Apple device with Touch ID or Face ID. They can then add their payment information under the Apple Pay settings, such as debit and credit cards. Then when completing a website checkout, users can tap the "Apple Pay" button to access the saved card information for purchases or donations.

In addition to making payments, Apple Pay also offers features such as tracking purchases and managing payment information.

Is Apple Pay Safe?

Apple Pay is a safe and secure way to make payments using an Apple device. Apple uses advanced security measures to protect users' payment information and prevent unauthorized transactions.

When users add their payment information to Apple Pay, it is encrypted and stored in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip on their device that is isolated from the rest of the system. Additionally, Apple Pay offers fraud protection and monitoring to detect and prevent unauthorized transactions. Users can also set up security measures such as a screen lock, Touch ID, or Face ID to protect their Apple Pay account.

Ok, so that's interesting. How can my church get started?

First, your church should know, OnlineGiving.org is already designed with a digital wallet and allows donors to quickly complete gifts with saved payment methods, including credit/debit cards, electronic checks, and cryptocurrency.

However, Google Pay and Apple Pay can be a very convenient way for OnlineGiving.org first-time givers to add new payment information and complete a donation.

Especially in today's age, a growing subset of donors no longer carry a traditional wallet with physical credit/debit cards. In these cases, having a giving platform such as OnlineGiving.org that supports Google Pay and Apple Pay can be extremely helpful for new givers.

We recommend having your church migrate to OnlineGiving.org and asking for Google Pay and Apple Pay to be enabled as one of the many ways donors can complete their act of generosity.

Are you already using OnlineGiving.org? Reach out to our support lines today and ask for Google Pay and Apple Pay to be enabled. Your youngest generation of new givers will thank you.
