OnlineGiving.org Apple Pay Enhancements

An update is now live that adjusts the OnlineGiving.org Apple Pay flow. OnlineGiving.org will now require a donor to complete an Apple Pay verification prompt a second time if the donor changes the total donation amount after an Apple Pay prompt has already been verified. The purpose of the updated flow is to ensure the total donation amount supplied to Apple Pay for verification matches the final donation amount.

It's important to note that OnlineGiving.org will automatically submit the donation for processing when an Apple Pay prompt is completed. This flow is desired as the Apple Pay prompt has language that indicates the donation amount is processing. The use-case of requiring a secondary Apple Pay prompt would only happen when a user has a donation form validation error, Apple Pay cannot be automatically submitted after verification, and the user decides to change the donation amount.

Kindly note due to the nature of how Apple Pay currently works, cover-the-fee is not supported with Apple Pay due to the card type not being known until after the Apple Pay processing prompt. For this reason, cover-the-fee is now automatically hidden when Apple Pay is used. In the event, this flow changes in the future, we shall be happy to promptly enable cover-the-fee again for Apple Pay. Please note cover-the-fee is supported for Google Pay.
