Every Dollar Tells a Story: Giving Intelligence & Predictive Forecasting — Part 2 of 7

What's New

Every gift tells a story — and now you can read it at a glance. Giving & Forecast turns your members' generosity into a clear picture: how they give, where their support goes, and where they're headed. Whether you're preparing for a stewardship conversation, thanking a faithful giver, or noticing someone who might need a gentle check-in, this section brings together giving trends, fund preferences, and a 12-month forecast in one place. The system predicts what each member is likely to give over the next year, so you can plan ahead and reach out at the right moment. Past informs future; your care becomes proactive instead of reactive.

Where to Find It

Go to Giving > Donors & Users > click any name > Profile. Scroll to the Giving & Forecast section. Any administrator can access this view.

See How They're Doing This Year

A hero bar at the top shows year-over-year context at a glance.

  • This Year's Total: Current calendar year giving, color-coded for trend direction
  • Pace-Adjusted Comparison: How this year stacks up to the same period last year
  • Projected vs Last Year: Side-by-side bars showing projected amount versus prior year actual
  • Lifetime Context: Lifetime giving total for long-term perspective
  • Decline Highlighting: Visual emphasis when year-over-year decline exceeds 25%

Why it matters: You need to know quickly whether a member's giving is growing, stable, or declining. This bar surfaces the most important comparisons without any manual math or digging through reports.

Three Quick Glances: Care, Forecast, and Commitment

Three compact cards give you instant status across care, forecast, and commitment.

  • Care Status: Risk tier badge, days since last gift, giving cadence
  • 12-Month Forecast: The system predicts what they're likely to give over the next 12 months, with percentage change
  • Pledge Progress / Giving Style: Pledge fulfillment when pledges exist, or giving personality classification otherwise

Why it matters: In one glance you see care status, projected giving, and commitment context. Staff can prioritize outreach based on risk tier and forecast without opening separate reports.

See Which Funds They Support

Visual charts show where a member directs their giving across funds.

  • Giving by Fund: Donut chart showing proportional allocation across funds
  • Recurring by Fund: Donut chart showing recurring gift allocation by fund
  • Fund Allocation Bars: Top 10 funds as proportional horizontal bars; clickable for drill-down

Why it matters: Understanding fund preferences helps you tailor thank-yous and notice when support shifts between ministries or campaigns. The dual donut charts separate one-time from recurring giving for clearer stewardship insight.

See Their Giving Over Time

An interactive bar chart displays up to five years of giving history.

  • Time Range: Up to 5 years of historical insights
  • Fund-Level Color Coding: Bars are color-coded by fund for visual allocation over time
  • Interactivity: Hover and click for detailed breakdowns

Why it matters: Long-term patterns are hard to spot in tables. The timeline chart reveals seasonal spikes, fund shifts, and multi-year trends at a glance.

Understand Their Giving Style

A two-column layout combines behavioral and financial insights.

Behavior Column

  • Cadence: Typical interval between gifts
  • Preferred Day: Day of week or month when gifts most often occur
  • Personality: Giving style (Planned, Impulse, Seasonal, Event-Driven, Sporadic, New Member)
  • Regularity: Consistency of gift timing
  • Consistency: Percentage of expected gifts delivered

Financial Column

  • Avg Gift: Average gift amount
  • Top Fund: Most-supported fund
  • Largest Gift: Single largest gift amount
  • First/Last Gift: Dates of first and most recent gifts

A brief narrative appears above the columns, synthesizing patterns into plain language. Anomaly Detection callouts highlight unusual behavior. Gift Volume YoY shows year-over-year gift count comparison.

Why it matters: Behavioral and financial patterns together inform how to approach a member. A Planned Giver with high consistency may respond differently to outreach than an Impulse Giver. Anomaly detection surfaces members whose behavior has changed and may need attention.

See How They Give

Proportional bars show how a member gives across channels.

  • Proportional Bars: Visual breakdown by channel: Web, Text, Kiosk, App, Campus, Chatbot
  • Primary Channel: The channel used most frequently
  • Unused Channels: Channels with no giving activity, highlighted for potential engagement

Why it matters: Knowing a member's preferred channel improves outreach effectiveness. Unused channels may represent opportunities to introduce new giving options or identify barriers.

See What's Coming: Predictions & Forecast

The system predicts future giving and classifies expected behavior.

  • 12-Month Projected Amount: Total projected giving for the next 12 months
  • Composition Bar: Proportional breakdown: Recurring, One-Time, Growth
  • AI Predictions: Next Expected Gift date and classification of giving trajectory

Why it matters: Forecasts enable proactive planning. You can anticipate when a member is likely to give next and adjust outreach timing accordingly.

Track Recurring Giving

This section summarizes scheduled donation status and history.

  • Active/Lapsed Badge: Status indicator for recurring schedule
  • Active Schedule Cards: Cards for each active recurring schedule with amount and frequency
  • History Metrics: Lifetime recurring total, cancelled count, longest streak, first started date, last cancellation date

Why it matters: Recurring giving is a key indicator of commitment. Lapsed schedules and cancellation history help identify members who may need re-engagement.

Recent Giving Transactions

The last five donation transactions are shown with a "View All Donations" link to the full Donations tab.

Why it matters: Quick access to recent activity supports immediate follow-up. Staff can verify a recent gift or review the last few transactions without leaving the Giving section.

Pledges

Pledge commitment and fulfillment in one place.

  • AI Narrative: Natural-language summary of pledge status
  • Fulfillment Hero: Total Pledged vs Fulfilled, progress bar, status counts
  • Active Pledge Cards: Cards for each active pledge with amount and progress
  • Completed Pledge Cards: Cards for fulfilled pledges with final totals

Why it matters: Pledge fulfillment is a direct measure of commitment. The hero and cards make it easy to see who is on track, who is behind, and who has completed their commitment.

Alternative Giving

Non-cash giving (crypto, securities, non-cash assets) in one view.

  • Combined Hero: Total non-cash giving with composition bar
  • Category Cards: Crypto, Securities, Non-Cash
  • Asset Type Tags: Tags indicating specific asset types within each category

Why it matters: Non-cash giving represents a growing segment of donor support. Staff need visibility into crypto, securities, and other asset-based gifts to steward these members appropriately.

Quick Start

  1. Go to Giving > Donors & Users and click any member's name.
  2. Open their Profile and scroll to Giving & Forecast.
  3. Use the hero bar and three snapshot cards to assess status, then drill into fund charts, timeline, or forecast as needed.
