Text Marketing > Enhanced Outbound Messaging Queues

We're pleased to report an update is now live that enhances our text marketing outbound management. Specifically, we've enhanced our outbound text marketing message queues/works to have independent throttling based on each church message count and message rates per second. Prior to the update, the platform applied a global throttle on outbound text marketing messages queues/workers. Meaning, outbound text marketing messages had a global queue and in some cases, this was causing delays on peak periods in which large amounts of messages are queued globally on our platform.

The enhancement changes this design to apply independent message queues/workers for each church account. Additionally, we added some advanced logic to detect your outbound phone number sending rates and to increase the throttle on a per-account basis depending on if the church has a short-code, 10-digit phone number or a toll-free 10-digit phone number. Each type of phone number has its own messaging limits set by Twilio in order to honor carrier limits. The platform will now set the throttle on each independent queue/worker to the max allowed per second for the type of number the church account has configured. In short, the update will allow scheduled outbound text marketing messages to be sent quicker based on individual messaging rates.
