OnlineGiving.org MinistryPlatform Widget Payment Integration Enhanced with Payment Status Webhook (Resolves Known MP Payment Delivery Issues)

We're pleased to announce an update is now live to the OnlineGiving.org MinistryPlatform integration to add support for a server-to-server payment status notification for MP Widget event registration and MP Widget invoice payments. The server-to-server notification is known as a "webhook" notification. MinistryPlatform's new MP Widget Webhook support is currently available to churches with access to MP's early preview updates.

The feature update to the OnlineGiving.org MinistryPlatform integration is designed to automatically detect support and delivery the payment webhook notification to the MP server. No action or configuration change is required on the OnlineGiving.org end. The feature is now live for all MP customers and will automatically be taken advantage of by the OnlineGiving.org MP integration when support is detected.

The goal of the new integration feature is to resolve the dependency of a user redirect for payment status to be delivered to MP. According to MP vendor specifications, vendors are to allow the MP Widgets to directly record the payment records into MP after a transaction is completed. The MP Widget transaction completed status was delivered (per MP specifications) in the user automatic redirect back to the church website after the payment is completed. However, this design left the payment confirmation status delivery in the end-user's hands and required the end-user to allow the redirect to be completed successfully.

OnlineGiving.org detected this use case issue and reported it to MinistryPlatform along with a recommended work order to resolve it in late 2021. MinistryPlatform recently deployed support for the recommended workaround to early MP adopters, adding support for the OnlineGiving.org integration to notify MP in the background of the payment transaction status independent of the end-user.

The result is now when an MP Widget payment is completed, multiple notifications are sent to MP, including both the notification in the end-user redirect and now in the server-to-server background webhook notification. Additionally, OnlineGiving.org took the integration a step further by adding additional fail-safe features which allow the server-to-server webhook notification to be automatically retried should the webhook fail to deliver for any reason. Further, the OnlineGiving.org integration will also perform a payment record check after a webhook notification is delivered to confirm payment was actually applied to the invoice in MP.

OnlineGiving.org Profile Update Address Button > New Support for Custom URL to MinistryPlatform My Household Widget

We're pleased to announce an update is now live that allows a custom URL to be supplied by the church specifically for the OnlineGiving.org > Giving Profile > Update Address Button. Before the update, the church could supply a custom URL for all of the MP update contact information buttons on the OnlineGiving.org profile page. It was brought to our attention that the current MP update profile page does not contain the ability to manage address information. For this reason, the church may now supply OnlineGiving.org with the MP Widget My Household URL and for that URL to be configured on the "Update Address" button instead of the update profile URL.
