Feature Updates 07/28/2023
NEW OnlineGiving.org > Mobile App > Deep Links > Custom Fallback Redirect URL Support
We're pleased to announce an update that enhances the OnlineGiving.org > Mobile App > Deep Link feature to include a new optional input for a custom fallback URL. When the custom fallback URL is used, and the user either does not have the app installed or does not have deep links enabled, then OnlineGiving.org will redirect the user to the custom fallback URL.
An example of use would be to have a general deep link to open the app home page with a fallback to a church website mobile app landing page. Another example might be when a church would like to deep link to a campus sub-page or an upcoming event; this update allows the church administrator to enter an event URL as a fallback so that either way, the user is redirected to the desired content.
Before the update, it was entirely up to the church to catch the website landing from the app when the app was not installed or deep links were not enabled and then redirect to the associated content. This update allows that technical step to be skipped as the church administrator can enter the fallback URL directly when creating the deep link.
Please note that the "Fallback URL" support is designed for deep links using OnlineGiving.org's giving website as the base URL (now the default). For your convenience, below is a screenshot of the new feature.
