[Important] A2P 10DLC Registration Requirement 08/07/2023
Hello to our church partners!
I’m sure that many of you have already received several emails from Twilio over the last year regarding the A2P 10DLC Registration requirement. If your church has already completed this registration process or currently utilizes a short code for messaging, then you can disregard this message.
For everyone else, unfortunately, due to the massive increase in robo dialers and text message spammers in our world today, cellular carriers now monitor all traffic that is sent through their networks. This is done to protect their customers from constant spam coming into their mobile devices via text message.
It’s important to note that this registration process is not an OnlineGiving.org or Twilio requirement but rather required by the cell phone carriers through a service called The Campaign Registry. The Campaign Registry works directly with services like Twilio and all of the major cellular carriers to ensure that your text messaging phone number is registered with a legitimate organization.
If your church has a 10-digit long code (phone number) and has not yet completed the brand registration and messaging campaign application process, it is very likely that your outgoing text messages are starting to be randomly filtered. This means that your donors may not be receiving their 4-digit authentication code for login purposes. Additionally, they may not receive the confirmation message that a text donation has been successfully completed. These messages will be undelivered with the Twilio error message of 30034 “Message from an unregistered number”. Obviously, this is not the experience that you want for your donors, and neither do we!
The registration process can be very confusing. The good news is that our support team is here to help. We have two options for you. First, we have created a step-by-step guide to help you complete the registration process. This guide includes screenshots of each page of the process. CLICK HERE to download the guide.
The second option is for our team to complete this for you. As a developer user on your Twilio account, we can go in and complete this for you. To do so, send our team an email at support@onlinegiving.org with the following information:
- Organization’s EIN (Employer Identification Number)
- The legal entity name of the church or ministry as provided on tax documents
- The legal entity address as provided on tax documents
The registration process consists of 3 different steps. The first two should be approved quickly (within minutes) assuming that your organization’s name and address match the employer identification number as registered with the government.
The third step is the campaign registration. Because of the large number of organizations completing this new process at the same time, Twilo and The Campaign Registry are backed up significantly. They are reporting that the current campaign review process is 2-3 weeks.
Again, this new registration requirement is outside the realm of our or Twilio’s control, but we are here for you. Please let us know if you have any registration questions or if we can assist you with the registration process. We are always happy to help!
