OnlineGiving.org Shortcode Stop Keyword Chatbot Enhancements

We're pleased to report an update is now live that enhances the stop keyword actions for text message sessions with an active chatbot conversation. Before the update, when a user sent a stop keyword in the middle of a chatbot, the user would stop receiving messages, but the chatbot conversation session would remain active. If the user immediately sent in a start keyword, the chatbot would take that as an answer to a question and cause potential confusion. Moving forward, the update changes this to allow the chatbot to close the active conversation if a stop keyword is received.

Did you know? Chatbot conversations can timeout due to activity. Additionally, the update only applies to churches using a shortcode. For churches using a long code (10-digit number), Twilio will not deliver messages to long codes from an opted-out number making the issue moot. Shortcodes are allowed to handle the start/stop services directly, which is why the update was required.
