Mobile App > Rock RMS Churches May Now Have External Linking with Single Sign-On in App Designer

We are pleased to report an update is now live to the mobile application and the App Designer (in the Online Giving Control Panel) for Rock RMS churches. Specifically, Rock RMS churches now have the option to link any button, text, or image to any page on their Rock RMS External Website with a single sign-on. The new option is available to church administrators in the Online Giving Control Panel > App Designer > Link Types > Select "Rock RMS External Website with Single Sign-On (requires sign-in)" Option. Using this option the mobile application will securely login the mobile app user into the church's RockRMS External Website and then redirect them to the designated page.

It's important to note - You may need to close the open app on your device from the mobile device app switcher to view the latest changes. For iOS devices, swipe up and hold from the bottom of the screen to view app switcher (tasks manager), then swipe up on the open app to close, then open the app again to view the latest changes. For older iOS devices, double-tap the home button to view app switcher. For Android devices, tap the navigation button, then swipe up on the open app to close, then open the app again to view the latest changes.

Mobile App > Important Note for Framed Rock RMS External Websites in Mobile App

Note: This section does NOT apply to the Rock RMS update outlined above.

Recent Google Chrome and Safari browser updates for Android and iOS devices have placed 3rd party cookie restrictions into mobile apps which can cause framed websites to not have session persistence with cookies. Specifically, Safari and Google will now block (prevent) framed website cookies from being saved unless the framed website's cookie policy is "SameSite=None" and the cookie is Secure. Any Rock RMS church that desires to use the "Rock RMS External Website Framed with Single Sign-On (requires sign-in)" link type option may have to reach out to their Rock RMS developer/administrator and request the cookie policy to be updated. Otherwise, the framed website may not be able to retain cookies in the mobile app. Alternatively, you may use the new link type option "Rock RMS External Website with Single Sign-On (requires sign-in)" to link out with single sign-on instead which avoids the cookie issue altogether.
