Feature Updates 09/19/2022
*New* OnlineGiving.org Embedded Giving Parent Window Session Tracking
We're pleased to announce an update is now live that enhances the OnlineGiving.org embedded giving to allow session tracking directly by the OnlineGiving.org embed JavaScript application.
The enhancement goal was to provide a method for the OnlineGiving.org embed app to retain the session on the parent (church) website, which allows for ideal persistence when a user is signed into OnlineGiving.org using Guest Giving or OnlineGiving.org embedded authentication. In non-technical terms, this will allow churches who are using embedded giving on multiple pages of their church website to have the donor's OnlineGiving.org login remembered. For example, if a church has multiple pages that display embedded giving and a donor completes a gift on one of those pages, the authentication from that gift is now retained securely.
Please note the update still requires users to allow web browser sessions (cookies) enabled as modern cookie blocking also blocks session storage options. Additionally, it's important to note that session tracking uses the same bank-level security OnlineGiving.org direct giving session trackings uses, which ensures giving is safe and secure.
Important - Please note this enhancement does not apply to churches using OnlineGiving.org embedded giving with ChMS single sign-on. Churches using ChMS single sign-on embedded features provided by OnlineGiving.org are allowing the ChMS to control session tracking.
