Event Triggers > User/Donor Address Added to List of Available Email/Text Message Variables

An update is now live that adds the following User/Donor fields to the list of available email/text message variables to the Online Giving Control Panel > Event Trigger feature. Church administrators may now use the following variables in any of their email or text message event trigger notifications:

New Event Trigger Email/Text Variables:

  • {user.address} (the street address of the associated user/donor)
  • {user.city} (the city of the associated user/donor)
  • {user.state} (the state of the associated user/donor)
  • {user.postal_code} (the postal code of the associated user/donor)
  • {user.country} (the country code of the associated user/donor)
  • {user.phone} (the phone number of the associated user/donor)

Text Messaging > Short Codes > STOP/UNSTOP Keyword Handling

An update is now live for the shortcode handling of the STOP/UNSTOP keywords for text messaging. Kindly note this update only applies to those churches using a shortcode for text messaging as Twilio will automatically handle the opt-out/opt-in (STOP/UNSTOP) message response for any church using a non-short code such as a 10 digit phone number or a toll-free phone number. A recent report revealed that Twilio by default currently does not handle message responses for STOP/UNSTOP keywords for shortcodes. The Online Giving platform will now respond to the STOP/UNSTOP keywords using the messages below when the inbound message is received on a shortcode.

Short Code STOP Response Message:

  • You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.

Sort Code UNSTOP Response Message:

  • You have successfully been re-subscribed to messages from this number. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg&Data Rates May Apply.

Text Messaging > HELP Keyword Handling

An update is now live for all churches using the default HELP keyword response message to include the required "Msg&Data Rates May Apply."

Text Messaging > Short Codes > Blacklist Tracking

An update is now live that enhances blacklist tracking for churches using shortcode phone numbers. Kindly note this update only applies to those churches using a shortcode for text messaging as Twilio will automatically handle the opt-out/opt-in (STOP/UNSTOP) message response for any church using a non-short code such as a 10 digit phone number or a toll-free phone number. On top of the existing text marketing backlist tracking. Online Giving now maintains an internal blacklist on a per-account level for shortcode churches and will stop any outbound text message from being delivered to a blacklisted number. The blacklist opt-in is triggered by the STOP keyword for shortcodes. Likewise, removal from the blacklist is triggered by the UNSTOP, START, YES keywords for shortcodes. The goal of the update is to add additional protection for shortcode churches to present unwanted messages from being sent out to opted out phone numbers via shortcodes.
