Feature Updates for September 2017 - Week 40 of 52
Text Giving Optional Strict Keyword Filtering
An optional update is now live that allows a church to enable strict keyword filtering for text giving. When enabled a text message gift will only be processed when a matching keyword is present along with a gift amount or when only a monetary amount is provided (no keyword). Meaning, once enabled a text message gift will not be processed if the donor sends in a non-matching giving keyword even if a monetary amount is present. The donor will either need to supply a matching keyword and amount or send only the gift amount.
Kindly note this is an optional update and not recommended, nor is it enabled by default. Ideally most churches want to allow donations to be processed as long as a monetary amount is present in the text message. However, some churches who are using text marketing and text giving may wish to enable it the feature to avoid processing donor messages as are erroneous. If your church would like to enable this optional feature please drop us a line at support@onlinegiving.org.
Optionally Disable Text Giving Convert to Recurring Message Per Fund/Sub-Fund
An update is now live that allows a church to optionally disable the text giving recurring gift help message sent after a one-time donation is completed. By default Online Giving will send out a recurring help message after a one-time donation is completed via text giving. The recurring help message asks the donor if they would like to convert their one-time donation into a recurring donation. The update allows the church to now disable this feature on a per fund/sub-fund basis in the Online Giving control panel. When editing/creating funds/sub-funds a church administrator may now toggle this feature on/off. We recommend keeping the feature enabled for all funds. However, the goal of the update is to allow the church to disable it for certain funds such as one-time donations/payments that are not applicable to recurring.
Optionally Set Default Fund/Sub-Fund Amount
An update is now live that allows a church to optionally set a default gift/payment amount for funds/sub-funds. When editing/creating a fund/sub-fund in the Online Giving control panel a church administrator may now optionally setup a default gift/payment amount. In the event a default payment amount is set Online Giving will now automatically populate that amount on the donation forms. This allows the church to setup a default amounts for any fund/sub-fund for various purposes such as preschool payments, etc. Additionally, this feature extends to our custom giving pages and custom forms feature. Custom forms using this feature may now have price changes based on fund/sub-fund selection allowing for various types of fixed amount payments.
Additionally, the update is for text giving. A church now has the ability to setup text giving keywords with default gift amounts using this feature. When a default amount is present and the fund/sub-fund keyword is used by a donor via text giving, then the software will automatically charge the donor the default amount (when a monetary amount is not supplied by the donor). In the event a monetary amount is supplied by the donor, then the amount supplied by the donor will overwrite the default amount. The goal of the update for text giving is to allow the church to market a keyword for a fixed donation amount without requiring the donor to enter an amount. An example of this might be disaster recovery campaigns, radio advertisement, etc.
Custom Form Submissions Spreadsheet Export Improved
An update is now live that improves the custom form submissions spreadsheet export to have the form data as separate columns/rows in the spreadsheet export. Prior to the update the form data was exported as JSON payloads and required additional processing. The new update places each custom form field into a separate spreadsheet column/row for easy reading reviewing in any spreadsheet program.
