Saving You Time and Money

Saving You Time and Money

Thu, Apr 6th 2023 by Mark Brooks

You have probably heard the saying that there are only two commodities, time and money. At OnlineGiving.org, we are committed to saving our church partners both money and time. Here is how.

First, since our founding, we have been adamant that churches should not be overcharged for processing fees. Our fees are some of the most competitive in the industry. One of our goals for church partners is to help them increase the number of people setting up recurring giving through ACH.

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. Automated Clearing House or ACH payments refer to the direct fund transfer between two bank accounts. The fees charged are higher on credit cards than on ACH transactions. While the difference might be only 1% to 2%, depending upon the type of card used and other factors, that small percentage can add up to hundreds and thousands of dollars saved over time. We have features to gently promote ACH first over credit cards for cost savings to the church. Our system is easy for your donors to use. We also allow ACH to be used for text giving and for multiple checking accounts to be linked to a donor profile.

To be honest, OG makes more money on a credit card transaction than an ACH transaction. But our goal isn’t to make money off our church partners. Our goal is to help enhance their ability to do missions and ministry. Saving even 1%, multiplied by hundreds and thousands of transactions, results in our church partners having more funding to do God’s work. Does your digital giving provider work to lower your transaction fees?

We can provide a side-by-side review of what you are currently paying your digital giving provider and how OnlineGiving.org compares. We can also show you how focusing on ACH transactions can save you significant amounts. To schedule your review, contact us at (615) 206-4000 or drop us a line at support@onlinegiving.org.

We know our system and plans lead our industry in processing transactions. But we are far more than a processing company. We provide engagement solutions that save churches hours of time. When you save time, you are saving money as well.

How do we save you time? First, we have what we believe is the industry’s best customer support. We begin by giving new church partners the training they need to effectively use our powerful tools. At the same time, we respond to our church partners' needs quickly. We would rather you reach out to us and find the answer to your problem quickly, than have you waste hours trying to find the answer. You’ll never waste hours on hold or waiting days for an email reply.

One reason is that every person on our team has been on a church staff. They know what it is like to wait for an answer that you need immediately. Amy McCollum, OnlineGiving.org's Head of Operations, summarized our team’s sentiments: “We will do everything to ensure your church is in a good position. We seek to partner with a church. We don’t just want a client. We love helping! That is why we are here; it is our joy to help ministries thrive. Making everything work together smoothly and bringing clarity are two things that excite us. If you are ever in need of help, email support@onlinegiving.org, and we will make sure you get it!"

Don’t take our word for it; here are several church partner testimonials about our support.

“The support we received from OG during onboarding was amazing. The initial training was so good that we only ran into a couple of small issues. When we contacted support with those issues, we had answers immediately, and they had us on our way." Colin West, IT Coordinator, Christian Life Cathedral, Dayton, OH.

“The people at OnlineGiving.org have been easy to get a hold of, and they have made our whole process from start to finish much easier than our previous online partner.” Fred Lofberg, Director of Finance at Fourth Presbyterian Church, Bethesda, MD.

By providing you with exceptional customer support, we save our church partners time which results in saving money.

“We are all about the path of least resistance. We aim to get your information into your ChMs, helping you avoid double entry.” That was a comment our co-founder, Stephen Ballard, shared at a recent conference held by the Stewardship Network. Our system integrates with all the top ChMs software that churches use. This saves you time entering information.

We recently posted how Seacoast Church in Charleston, SC used our chatbot feature to follow up on 527 salvation commitments one Easter. All those commitments were automatically imputed into Seacoast’s ChMs. Imagine the hours saved if some secretary had to manually impute that data. The feature used by Seacoast is available to all our church partners.

Last year we introduced our check scanning option. Traditionally, churches scanning checks had to scan multiple times to get check documents into multiple systems and deposited into bank accounts. Other churches have to upload batch files to banks for a deposit or even still drive checks to a physical location for deposit. To help our church partners, we developed a solution to break the chains of legacy check scanning with innovative new technology that would no longer require multiple scans, no driving to the bank, no bank file uploads, no ranger drivers to download, and no Microsoft Windows requirements. Does it save time for churches? Again, let one of our church partners speak to this,

“Our church moved into its own long-term facility in 2021,  and expanded to two services, which provided two unique challenges. First, we now had two services to count tithes and offerings for, which delayed when we could get everything ready for a deposit.

Second, moving into our own building with increased expenses means we need the deposits available faster. As a result, OG’s remote deposit system has allowed us to overcome both of these challenges quickly. We now save time on making a physical trip to the bank and get access to our funds faster as well!” Chris Giddens, Executive Operations Director, Bethel Austin, TX.
