Your Mission Trips, Fully Connected: The ManagedMissions Integration

What's New

Your church sends teams around the world. Donors give generously to support those trips. But until now, getting those online donations into ManagedMissions meant manual data entry, copy-pasting from spreadsheets, or hoping nothing fell through the cracks between systems.

Those days are over.

OnlineGiving.org now integrates directly with ManagedMissions — the leading mission trip management platform. Every donation that comes in through your giving page is automatically recorded in ManagedMissions, matched to the right trip, the right team member, and the right donor. Refunds, voids, recurring gifts — all handled automatically. No exports, no imports, no manual reconciliation.

And here is what makes this different: ManagedMissions works alongside your existing church management integration. Whether you are already connected to Ministry Platform, Rock RMS, Breeze, or any of our other 16 integrations, ManagedMissions runs right alongside it. Your regular tithes and offerings continue posting to your primary ChMS while your mission trip giving flows into ManagedMissions automatically.

Where to Find It

Getting started with the ManagedMissions integration is simple — our support team handles the setup for you.

Email support@onlinegiving.org and let us know you would like to connect ManagedMissions. We will verify your account, configure the integration, and have you up and running quickly.

Once connected, everything is automatic. You will see the integration active in your Settings > Integrations area.

Import a Mission Trip in Two Clicks

Once connected, importing a mission trip is as simple as selecting it from a dropdown.

Go to Giving > Funds and click the Import MM Mission Trip button. You will see a wizard that pulls your active mission trips directly from ManagedMissions. Select the trip, click Import Trip, and OnlineGiving.org creates:

  • A parent fund for the trip (e.g., Summer 2026 Guatemala Mission)
  • A sub-fund for each team member (e.g., Sarah Johnson, Mike Chen, Pastor David)
  • All funds are immediately active and ready to receive donations

Donors can give to the trip generally or support a specific team member — exactly like a pledge campaign, but connected to ManagedMissions from day one.

Why it matters: No more manually creating funds for each trip member and trying to match them up later. The import wizard reads your trip roster directly from ManagedMissions, so the fund structure always matches your team.

Every Donation Recorded Automatically

When a donor gives to a mission trip fund, OnlineGiving.org automatically records the contribution in ManagedMissions — no manual step required. The system handles everything:

  • Trip Contributions — when the fund is linked to a specific trip and team member
  • General Fund Contributions — when the fund is mapped to a general fund in ManagedMissions
  • Skip Recording — when a fund is configured as Do Not Record (for funds you manage outside of ManagedMissions)

Each contribution includes the donor name, email, address, donation amount, payment reference, and transaction date. Everything ManagedMissions needs to keep your trip finances accurate.

Why it matters: Your mission trip coordinator sees every donation in ManagedMissions within seconds of it being processed — no waiting for a nightly export, no missing transactions, no duplicates.

Donors Matched Intelligently — No Duplicates

The integration does not just record money — it matches donors intelligently. When a donation comes in, OnlineGiving.org runs a five-step matching process to find the right donor in ManagedMissions:

  1. Previous link check — has this donor been matched before?
  2. Name + email match — first and last name plus email address
  3. Last name + email — catches married name changes or first-name typos
  4. Name + address match — for donors without email in ManagedMissions
  5. Create new donor — if no match is found, a new donor record is created automatically

Once matched, the donor stays linked permanently. Every future donation from that person is instantly attributed to the correct ManagedMissions donor record.

Why it matters: You do not end up with duplicate donors in ManagedMissions, and you do not have to manually link people. The system handles it — even edge cases like a donor who changed their last name or gave with a different email.

Refunds and Voids Stay in Sync

When you process a refund or void in OnlineGiving.org, the integration automatically updates ManagedMissions:

  • Refunds create a negative offset contribution linked to the original donation — proper accounting, not a deletion
  • Voids and cancellations remove the original contribution from ManagedMissions

Your trip financials stay accurate in both systems without any manual intervention.

Why it matters: A donor calls on Monday asking for a refund. You process it in OnlineGiving.org. By the time you hang up the phone, ManagedMissions already reflects the change. Your mission trip coordinator never sees a balance discrepancy.

Recurring Donations Just Work

Donors who set up recurring gifts to mission trip funds get the same automatic treatment. Every billing cycle:

  • The transaction is created with the correct trip and member mapping
  • The contribution is recorded in ManagedMissions automatically
  • The donor link carries forward from cycle to cycle

Even if a team member is added or removed between billing cycles, the nightly sync keeps everything current.

Why it matters: Monthly supporters of mission trips are often your most faithful givers. Their recurring donations flow into ManagedMissions automatically, every cycle, with zero manual work.

Your Trip Roster Stays Current — Automatically

Mission trip rosters change. People join, people drop out, names get updated. OnlineGiving.org syncs with ManagedMissions every night to keep your fund structure current:

  • New team members get a sub-fund created automatically
  • Updated names are reflected on existing sub-funds
  • Removed members have their sub-fund cleaned up — unless they have active recurring donors (those are preserved to avoid breaking subscriptions)

Why it matters: Your fund list always matches your ManagedMissions roster. When a new team member joins the trip on Tuesday, they have a giving fund ready by Wednesday morning — without anyone lifting a finger.

Works Alongside Your Existing Integration

This is a key point worth repeating: ManagedMissions does not replace your primary church management integration. It works alongside it.

If your church uses Ministry Platform for member management and giving, that integration keeps running exactly as it does today. ManagedMissions simply adds a parallel track for mission trip giving. The same donation can be recorded in both your ChMS and ManagedMissions when funds are configured for it.

This means you get:

  • Regular tithes and offerings continuing to post to your primary ChMS
  • Mission trip donations flowing to ManagedMissions automatically
  • One giving page for your donors — they do not know or care which system receives the data
